Location: A former Soviet republic that became independent in December 1991, Kyrgyztan is situated on the Tien-Shan mountains. It has China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tadzhikistan as neighbours.
Agriculture: Kyrgyztan is famed for its live-stock breeding. Bee-keeping is well-developed. Products: Grain, cotton, potatoes, vegetables, fruit, meat, milk, egg, wool, tobacco.
Industry: Sugar, food, cotton, wool, tanning, flour mills, tobacco, timber, textile, Engineering, metallurgy, oil and mining.
