Thirumalai Naik Palace
About a kilometre from the Meenakshi Temple, Thirumalai Naik Palace (Mahaal) was built by Thirumalai in 1636. Much of it has fallen into ruins. The pleasure gardens as well as the defensive wall had disappeared but were later partially restored by Lord Napier, the Governor of Madras in 1866-72. Restoration work is still on.
Gandhi Museum:
There is a Gandhi Museum too in the city containing memorabilia of Mahatma Gandhi as well as Gandhi Library.
