As we move into the immediate outskirts of Chennai, we discover the Church of Our Lady of Expectations on Saint Thomas Mount. It is believed that Saint Thomas came to India in AD 52, barely a few years after the crucifixion of Christ. He was martyred here. A church was built in his memory in the 16th century.
