Rock Fort Temple - Trichy
Right in the centre of the town and visible from all directions is the Rock Fort Temple (Uchi Pillayar Temple - 7th Century). To reach the fort, you have to climb a tunnel of 437 steps to the top when you are rewarded with a view of the countryside as well as two major temples - the massive Ranganatha Temple and the smaller Sri Jambukeshwar Temple on Srirangam Island in the Cauvery River.
