Ekambareswara and Varadarajaswamy Temples - Kanchipuram
Once called a ‘City of Thousand Temples’, Kanchipuram still has 124 temples. Some of the temples are great examples of massive architecture. For instance, the entrance Gopuram of the Ekambareswara Temple built in the 16th century, stands 188 feet high with no less than 10 storey of intricate sculptures. Similar but more pleasing to the eye is the 100 feet tower of the Varadarajaswamy Temple. This temple is known for its hall of 96 pillars decorated with interesting sculptures.
