Sunrise and Moon rise - Kanniyakumari
At Kanyakumari Beach, one can witness and enjoy both sunset and moonrise simultaneously on full moon days. The temple here is dedicated to the virgin goddess Kanyakumari.
Kanniyakumari is Land's-end of India and also a well-known pilgrimage centre for the hindus. For non-hindu foreigners, it is an interesting place to watch the sunrise and set. It is the only place in India where you can enjoy the unique experience of sunset and the moon rising over the ocean simultaneously on full moon day.
Dutch Fort and Church:
There are some five beaches. A 16th century Catholic Church and the 18th century Dutch Fort remind you of its recent past.
The main temple in Kanniyakumari is dedicated to goddess Kanniakumari - an incarnation of Parvati, consort of lord Shiva. The temple has a very picturesquely located.
