Bhopal is the capital of Madhya Pradesh, the one of the biggest state in India. The state has number of tourist places like Sachin, Khajuraho, Gwalior, Mandu, Ujjain and Indore. Bhopal has found its place in the world industrial map because of its factory Bharath Heavy Electrical which manufactures turbines and generators required for both hydro thermal plants in and outside India.

The places of tourist interest in Bhopal

1. Taj-ul-maszid one of the Largest Mosque in India, built by Shahjahan
2. Jami Maszid
3. Bharat Bhavan and the lake
4. Neori (6kms) - Here is a Shiva Temple
5. Moti Masjid resembling Jami Masjid in Delhi.
6. Ginnogarh Fort (60kms)- famous for its parrots.

SanchiSanchi is about 70kms from Bhopal.It has many old Buddhist structures . The great stupa built by Ashoka Mayura in 3rd century B.C. is to be seen here. At the entrance a museum is situated housing the excavated sculptures and remains.

Ujjain This is a pilgrimade centre for the Hindus. Mahakala temple dedicated to Shiva, one ancient observatory, palaces, ruins are wroth seeing. Chandragupta II is whose court the great poet Kalidas wrote his famous Sanskrit works,ruled from Ujjain. The famous Kumbhamela is held once in 12 years here.

Bhopal is connected with Bombay . Indore ,Gwalior, Delhi, Jabalpur by air. Buses connect Bhopal with Sanchi Khajurho.

Indore Here the tourist can find a palace, the Dalay College which was a school for princes, Museum housing antiques, Chhattri Bagh where tombs iof former rulers are found. The name of Ahalyabi HOlkar is associated with Indore.

Omkareshwar It is an island in the Narmada River, Shiva temple,few fine buildings are to be seen.

Mandu This city is known as the city of joy. It was the capital of Malwa. Jahaz Mahal or the ship palace built by Ghiyasuddin,Hindola Mahal, The Huge Jami Masjid, one of the finest examples of Afghan architecture, Rupmati's Pavilion built by Baz Bahadur for the queen. Darya khan's tomb , Hathi Mahal and the Nilkanth Palace are the places of tourist interest in Mandu.

Gwalior Gwalior is famous for its old and large fort. Even today it is perfect. The Fort has number of temples and ruined palaces. This fort has its starting from 1398 when the Tomar dynasty came to power. The greatest among these rulers was Mansingh who came to power in 1480. ibrahim Lodhi invaded the fort in 1516. Later on the Moghals took it over. Then it came under the rule of British after a short period of rue by the Marathas and the Scindias. Jhansi Rani was killed here is 1857.

The fort is on a hill and is three Kms in length. The Man Singh Palace or Chit Mandir, the Gujarat Mahal Palaceand its Museum which houses few Hindu and Jain Sculptures, Jain Vilas Palace and its museum that houses Belgian cut glass furniture, stuffed tigers etc are all worth seeing.

Khajuraho Khajuraho is well known all over the world for its beautiful temples of Indo-Aryan architecture. These temples were built during the Chandel period. Fairs and Festivals are held here that attracts a lot of tourist. The Dance festival held that during March, Mahashivaratri festivel when devotes flock to the Mangeshwar temple are some of the festivel held here. Many aspects of Indian life heaven been depicated by the sculptures here in temples. Few erotic sculptures are also seen.

There are few places around Khajuraho to be seen by one and all. They are, Beni Sagar Lake (11Kms) a picnic spot, Ranguan lake(25 Kms), Pandav Water Fall (30 Kms), Ranch water Falls ( 20 Kms), Rajgarh Palace(25 Kms), Panna (45 Kms), the capital of Bundella Kingdom, Dhubela Museum ( 64 Kms), that houses the personal belongings of Chhatrasal and other Bundella Kings, Ajayargh (80 Kms) and Kalinjar Forts ( 100 Kms), Panna Diamond mines, Panna national Park, Bandhagarh National Park ( 237 Kms).

Kanha National Park It is 175 Kms south east of jabalpur. This has an impressive variety of wild life. The area spread is about 2,000 sq kms and is covered by project tiger. Leopards, sambar, braising, gaurs are seen here. The best season to visit Yhis Park is all round the year except from July to October when it is closed because of the monsoons.
