Trivandrum is the capital city of Kerala. It is a seaside city.The place is also known as Tiruvananthapuram. Trivandram is well connected by air. This place is linked by rail and road to important places in India.

Trivandrum is 790 Kms from Chennai and Kannyakumari is just 87 Kms.

The chief attractions are Sri Padmanabha Swamy Temple, Napier Museum, Zoological Gardens, Sri Chitra art Gallery. Zoological gardens is acclaimed as one of the best zoos in the country.

At 14 Kms is Kovalam where the beach inspires the tourists.

Padmanabhapuram Palace is at 155 Kms from Trivandrum.

Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary:155Kms from Madurai. This is located in Kerala on the border of Tamilnadu. This is also known as 'Thekkady'.it is a natural habitat for Elephants, bisons, Wild boars, tigers and a wide variety of birds like Egrets, Herons etc. the best time to see this sanctuary is between November and June.

Cochin:It is the largest cityin Kerala. It is an important centre fdor commerce and industry. Cochin is 70 Kms from Kottayam. The key attractions for the tourists here is

St.Francis Church, Fort, Santa Cruz Church, Bolgatty Island, Dutch Palace, Jewish Synagogue. The Dutch palace at Mattancherey was built by the portugese in 16th century . Anyway the Dutch undertook the renovation so is called the Dutch Palace. It is kept open on week days.

Kaladi: This is the birth place of the great Hindu Philosopher Adi Shankaracharya. The Shrines here dedicated to Shankara and Sharada are worth seeing.

Trichur: 291 Kms from Trivandrum, Trichur is famous for its Pooram festival held during April and May. During the festival a clourful procession of elephants carrying ceremonial Umbrellas is held. Trichur has a zoo, worth seeing. The zoo has a sizeable collection of varieties of snakes.

About 32 Kms north of Trichur is Kerala Kalamandalam where the Kathakkali dance is taught. The instruction was founded by the late Malayali poet Vallathol NarayanaMenon.

Guruvayoor: A pilgrimage centre for Hndus. Here a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Krishna is worth seeing. Krishna is worshipped here as guru, another name for Brihaspati.

Malampuzha Dam A beautiful Picnic spot. The place can be reached starting from Trichur. The dam is built across the river Bharathapuzha. There is provision for boating. A terraced garden enchants the tourists.

Sabarimalai Every year, in the month of January lakhs of pilgrimages visit the holy Sabarimalai, a pilgrimage centre. This is adobe of Lord Ayyappa, who is also known as Harihara Putran.

Idukki Idukki is 100kms away from Cochin. The valleys and hills have enriched the beauty of the place. An arch dam has been built across the Periyar River. The place which means a narrow gorge has biggest hydro electric project of the state.
