Goa has a costal line line of 105 kms with beautiful beaches and a rich flora and fauna. Goa after ruled by Mauryans, Satavahanas, Badami Chalukyas. The Kadambas and the Kalyan Chalukyas and Vijayanagara rulers it came under the control of Bahamani Kings. Goa was also ruled by the Portugese and the British.
Panaji is the state capital, situated on the banks of Mandovi river. Indian Air lines operate regular flights connecting Goa and important capital cities of India. Road and rail links are also available. Road Transport corporations of both Karnataka and Maharashtra ply buses to Panjim from their respective capitals.
Panjim offers few attractions to tourists. Basilica of Bom Jesus where the mortal remains of St. Francies Xavier are enshrined in a silver casket, St. Cathedral and other churches like church of St. Monica, St. Augustine etc. few Hindu temples like Mangesha Temple, Sri Mahalsa Temple - These are the Tourist spots of interest.
15kms from Panjim is Calangute Beach. It is a well developed beach.
Wild life Sanctuary at Bondla, About 100kms from Panjim is Dudh Sagar Falls. Three mails long Miramis Beach and Dona Paula Bay, Mapusa town (15kms from panji) are important tourist spots.
Margoa (34kms Panjim) has a beautiful market place worth watching. The scenic Colva Beach 6kms away from Margao has the biggest coastline.
